For our program we will have a guest, Christian Davies of C&M Acres, the alpaca farm and mill near Maxwell.  He will bring yarns for sale, so bring some money!  When Christian visited  last year, it was a wonderful discussion of all things alpaca.  He will discuss this more and tell of his new mill where he is producing yarn.

Have you made the Grandma's Diagonal Dishcloth?  Perhaps you have knit a scarf or the Clapotis shawl.  Then you have been doing bias knitting.
Shauneen will help you take you bias knitting up a notch or two.  Knitting on the Bias gives your knitting a slant, a new angle and takes you in new directions.  Bring some worstead weight yarn and appropriate needles and join us while we learn some tips to turn our knitting on an angle.
Join in the fun on Tuesday November 6 from 7-9 at Grace Lutheran Church.

We also heard a recap of Stitches Midwest by 3 of our members.  Each had a review of classes, banquets, market place, yarns etc.  Inspiries one to want to attend one of these events!  Thank you.

August Meeting 7:00 August 7, 2012
Looking for a new source for knitting patterns and information about knitting? Try the Des Moines Public Library (www.dmpl.org). The library is always adding new books on this subject. A recent item is Ultimate Mittens by Robin Hansen is available in our system. This book contains 28 classic patterns for mittens. I know many of you are fans of Stephanie Pearl-McPhee’s Yarn Harlot blog. All Wound Up is her current collection of knitting essays and fun to read anytime. Vogue Knitting Knitopedia is an interesting collection of all things knitting. It’s fun to just flip through this book and read things that don’t usually come up in our pattern directions. Chris Shelton will have these books and some others on display at our next meeting.

In addition Cindy Griese will talk about her trip to Norway with Arnhild.
Please come join us and do some relaxing knitting after the flurry of getting fair entries finished, blocked and delivered!
