We will be starting a DMKG Sampler Scarf, that will cover the whole year.

Come & join us at the Tractor Show this Saturday from 9am-4pm and Sunday from 9am-2pm to knit and teach anyone who in interested in learning to knit.

Come one, come all to the Iowa Sheep & Wool Festival in Adel, IA this weekend. The Guild will have a booth with all types of items made from wool displayed. See you all there!!!

The picnic & garage sale will be held at Legion Park, 4th & Vine, West Des Moines at 6:30pm.

The Janet Szabo workshop will be held on May 21 and 22. The workshop will be at one of the meeting rooms at Merle Hay Mall. (Directions will be provided after sign-up)

The classes and the times are as follows:

Sat a.m.: Infinitely Interesting Cables - swirls, flourishes and circular motifs with special
increases and decreases
Sat p.m.: Colorizing Cables - color contrasting cables traveling over a different background
or cable strands of different colors
Sun a.m.: Let Them Knit cake - brioche stitches - both yarn over and knit-in-the-row-below
techniques will be taught
Sun p.m.: Holly Berry Christmas Stocking - knit an heirloom stocking featuring cables and
appliqueed holly leaves and berries

The cost for each class is $30.

Back by popular demand, Art Knit Lace provides another opportunity for knitters who love art and have a passion for knitting to celebrate the relationship between art and craft. Art Center docent and lifelong knitter Kim Finley will be back to speak about knitting and its representation in the world of visual art, both image and material, past and present. She will also discuss lace knitting, its history, variety, and beauty. As with Art Knit Love,the program will feature a show-and-tell. Knitters of all levels are invited to share projects, works-in-progress, ideas, and inspiration.Refreshments will be available. A small knitted lace project will be given to the first 25 participants.

Oh, our State Fair is a great State Fair… Dorothy Faidley, long-time Superintendent of Fabrics and Threads at the State Fair, is our speaker this month. She will be sharing information such as how to enter competition, what categories are available to enter, and how those categories were decided upon. Dorothy has generously agreed to answer questions, so think about what you want to know! Please note: Dorothy’s presentation will be first thing on the meeting agenda.
